About the Studio

Studio workspace

Honestly? It started in a cramped basement office back in 2011, just me and way too much coffee.

I'd spent years working for big firms where everything felt... templated. Cookie-cutter solutions for unique people. That never sat right with me. So I left, took the leap, and Dareth Ralquintal Architecture was born from this simple idea - what if we actually listened?

Not just nodded politely during meetings, but genuinely listened to how people wanted to live and work. Every space we design now comes from conversations, from understanding the rhythm of daily life, from recognizing that good architecture isn't about showing off - it's about making life better.

Philosophy

Look, I'm not gonna pretend there's some mystical design formula. After 12+ years doing this, I've learned that great spaces come from paying attention to the small stuff. How morning light hits the kitchen counter. Where you naturally want to sit after a long day. The route you take from bedroom to bathroom at 3am.

We mix contemporary lines with practical thinking. Sustainability isn't a buzzword here - it's about buildings that'll work for decades, not just look good in photos for a year. And yeah, we're kinda obsessed with natural materials and how spaces flow into each other.

Toronto's an incredible city to work in because every project's different. One month we're designing a Queen West loft, next month it's a Rosedale renovation or a commercial space in Liberty Village. Keeps things interesting.

Dareth Ralquintal

Principal Architect

Started drafting floor plans on napkins during university - some habits never change. Licensed architect with a thing for clean lines and spaces that make sense. When I'm not at the studio, you'll find me biking around Toronto or hunting down the city's best espresso.
